Jun. 1st, 2012 10:49 amI have an idea for a scenario.
The Great Heroes (probably 4-6 of you) have just, literally just now, killed the Dark Lord and thus ended his 1000 year reign of terror.
Now what?
Players would be the afformentioned Great Heroes, plus playing extras and such in scenes that they're not in.
I kinda want this to be D&D, but yet that's a terrible idea given how PvP scales and how slow high-level combat is. Burning Wheel is too lethal plus I don't really want to handle that level of systematic learning curve. Riddle of Steel is genre-inappropriate. I want a certain level of fantasy crunch which denies more mumble-mumble freeformy systems like Fiasco or Serpent's Tooth.
Do I need to roll my own for this? Please tell me no.

Does anyone know of a simple (I'm thinking the complexity of low-level or at the worst mid-level combat) mass combat system that is d20 compatible? It doesn't have to be, like, super-detailed or anything, just resolve quickly and not have any obvious breakpoints (so, like, no "archers beat everything" or "cavalry is useless" or whatever.)
Again, simple is the watchword. I'd want something that takes 20-40 minutes to resolve, rather than most of a session.
I have plans, yes.
